Jack's 2nd Birthday

We did another butterfly release this year and I made a chocolate birthday cake with homemade marshmallow fondant icing to celebrate. It was a peaceful day and a lot of fun! The day before was tough. A little too tough for me to gather the energy to write about. For some reason the actual finding out and inducing and trauma that we went through on the 6th was far worse to me than the actual delivery and getting to finally hold him that happened on the 7th. So this year, the 7th was a nice day and we were able to really enjoy it.

We had 12 butterflies and put 2 in the fridge to keep cool because it makes them sleepy and go into a sort of hibernation. That way after we let all 10 go, we could play and take pictures with the other 2 cool ones before they warmed up enough to fly away. After trying to get a picture of my eternity band with his birthstones along with the bracelet with his star coordinates engraved on it all in the same photo...the butterfly warmed up enough to take flight. But it landed on my pregnant belly! It was so amazing. So then we got the other cool one out and put him on my belly too which was a little contrived, but still fun. We enjoyed celebrating our Baby Jack on 7/7/09...his 2nd birthday.
